Garden State Bulb Chester Blackberry Bare Roots come directly from our farms and growers in the US. They are winter hardy with sweet blackberries up to 1 inch, just bursting with flavor! Excellent for eating fresh, as well as jams, jellies and pies. These thornless plants grow best in full sun with well drained soil. Please note, it can take 1 to 3 years after planting to reach full maturity size and yielding full production of fruit.

- 1. Plant blackberries in the spring after the ground has thawed and there is no longer danger of frost.2. Choose a location with well-drained soil that receives full sun. Loosen soil prior to planting.3. Remove plant from packaging and lightly loosen the bottom of the root ball to release the roots. Dig a hole in loosened soil as deep as the roots and about twice as wide. Be sure the hole is large enough to encompass the roots without bending them.4. Place plant in hole with the roots down and the crown/top of the roots about 1
- After the first fruiting season, prune to the ground to allow room for new canes. This plant produces fruit on 2 year canes. Trellising is beneficial for cane support. Blackberry plants will produce a small amount of fruit after being planted, with more plentiful crops occurring on plants that are 2-4 years old.
